Proposals put together by Laing O`Rourke, Mott MacDonald and Hawkins Brown have been unveiled that would transform Clapham Junction station.
Shops and restaurants near the station would be demolished with the main entrance to the station being moved closer to the corner junction. The designers also envisage that the scheme will create over 5,000 homes plus shops, entertainment and industrial units.
It is hoped that the plans will sort out the often over-crowded walkway and tunnel which can be extremely busy at peak times. The architects also want to bridge the social divide between the communities to the north and south of the train lines. The Winstanley Estate to the north of the tracks is the most deprived area of Wandsworth.
